Andrew Powell

Principal Research and Evaluation Manager

Andrew is a Principal Research and Evaluation Manager at the Acacia Center for Justice where he leads the research, reporting, and data analysis efforts for Acacia’s Legal Access Programs. Prior to joining Acacia, Andrew worked at a variety of state and local government agencies, including the Oregon Criminal Justice Commission, the New York City Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, and the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, conducting research and evaluation of programs designed to promote fairness and effectiveness in the criminal justice system. He also previously worked as a Research Associate for the Vera Institute of Justice’s Center on Immigration and Justice. Andrew holds a PhD in Criminal Justice from John Jay College, an MSc in Sociology from Cardiff University, and a BA in Economics from the University of Maryland, College Park.
