Jacob Ertel

Research Associate

Jacob Ertel is a Research & Evaluation Associate at the Acacia Center for Justice. He is responsible for conducting quantitative analysis, implementing performance measurement methods, and leading research for reports and publications. Before transitioning to Acacia from the Vera Institute of Justice, Jacob served as a researcher at the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection and the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development. In these roles he analyzed IRS and Census data to produce reports on neighborhood inequality in New York City and modeled the effects of proposed social welfare policies. He has also worked as a union organizer with SEIU 32BJ, where he helped campaign for the largest prevailing wage increase in the country. Jacob holds a Master’s of Public Administration from the Marxe School of Public and International Affairs at Baruch College and a BA in Politics from Oberlin College.
